(This page is for the poem with this title. To view the short film of the same name, of which Tina was one of several filmmakers, see here.)
I was made in a factory
bright yellow and bold
to bring joy to a girl
in the bath, stories told
I floated on waters
in bubbles and glee
shared secrets and laughter
just her and me.
but then came her mother
with a frown on her face
“I've found too many toys, dear, it’s time to make space.”
I was tossed from her hands
my adventures now done,
into the dark trash bin, no more laughter, no fun.
I was tossed in the landfill, beneath piles so high.
but then fate took a turn, as the winds blew and swirled,
to a pond I was carried,
to a soft, rippling world.
though i’m just a duck made of plastic and hue
in hearts I still float, forever brand new.
