My childhood room, so safe and dear

Where dreams took flight without a fear

With your walls once painted an aqua blue

In your cluttered corners, memories grew

Your walls hugged tightly with fairy lights

Held prayers whispered late at night

Shelves of snow globes and trophies gleamed

And next to my sister, my childhood dreamed

Pictures on string, memories in frames

Each one a story, each one a name

They’ll travel with me, in my heart and my mind

As I walk through this world, leaving the past behind

I closed your blinds to keep dust at bay

And shut the door quiet as I went on my way

Your shelves are still, with your treasures kept

A room of comfort where memories slept

The bed is made, neat as can be

It will stay that way until winter break’s plea

Til my sister forgets and takes a seat

Waiting for stories, our laughter to greet

The walls, though new, do not embrace

The way your warmth once filled my space

Though college calls, and I must go

You’ll always be my only home
