Heart Eyes, directed by Josh Ruben, blends slash horror with romantic comedy. The movie centers around coworkers Ally (Olivia Holt) and Jay (Mason Gooding), mistaken for a couple by a maniac with glowing red eyes who only murders couples on Valentine’s Day. They run for their lives as they fight back to end the killer’s reign of terror.

Holt and Gooding deliver charm to anchor the film’s romantic angle, helping to balance horror with the right amount of humor and charm. The performances feel authentic, pulling you in with moments of authentic chemistry and heartfelt interactions. The tension builds throughout, allowing for suspense and psychological depth. The film is self-aware, mixing romcom beats with slasher tropes. Heart Eyes embraces classic tropes while introducing its own amount of originality, balancing it all perfectly to keep you engaged and entertained.
