She’s Gone By David Bell is a Young Adult thriller that follows Hunter Gifford, a high school senior, who wakes up in the hospital after the homecoming dance with no memory. His girlfriend Chloe Summers, who was in the car with him, has vanished, and the case quickly turns the town upside down. Hunter struggles to piece together what happened the night of the car accident and what happened to Chloe. In a town where nearly everyone believes he is responsible, Hunter is determined to figure out the truth and clear his name.   

She’s Gone is an engaging read for those looking for a fast-moving thriller. Bell immediately throws the readers into the story’s central mystery and implements it through solid tension and emotional stakes. Bell relies on rumors and flashbacks to make the story more effective. The novel captures the volatility of teenage reputation during the age of social media. She’s Gone is a gripping story that uses familiar YA-thriller beats and a few predictable twists to keep the story engaging from start to finish.
