Nicholas P. Gaffney

I watch you sleep. Chest slowly rising. Deep within the dreams you don’t forget to breathe. Do you forget me or the air we keep? I do concede, locked in these four walls are all the life I need. Through pens and prayers I bleed. The pages I get to read while God is listening, so sweet. I need a guarantee that this will drop into your dreams; like summer rain, gently sprinkling. Everything I feel seems to fall in line as the stars hold on and move across the sky. Another breath, another rise. I find I’m bound up like a book, forever intertwined.
